Advanced Surface Laser Treatment

PRK, LASEK, EPI-LASIK

There are a number of circumstances which can make the LASIK procedure unsuitable for a given individual. Whether it is for reasons of reduced corneal thickness (pachymetry) or anomalies in corneal shape, in the interest of safety, Dr. Fox may suggest that you have your vision corrected on the corneal surface rather than under a flap. PRK, LASEK and EPI-LASIK are all variants of this family of laser correction and are all performed by Dr. Fox.

With surface treatment, Dr. Fox makes use of the same custom Wavefront laser technology used in LASIK which is applied to the surface of the cornea. Patients treated on the surface enjoy the same excellence in outcomes as do those treated with a Lasik flap; however, there can be a delay in visual recovery of up to a week.

Major advances in the post operative treatment of surface treated patients have made theses procedures safe and viable alternatives for those patients who may be unsuitable for the LASIK procedure.
